Territory Storm Record Win

By Jourdan Pym

Territory Storm have done it! First win on home soil for 2009!

An erratic first quarter from Tasmania gifted Storm some valuable possession early. Territory Storm stalwart Natasha Munns worked fiercely to get the ball to inform shooter Jodie Sefton. Tasmania showed patches of brilliance with some smart defence backing themselves and challenging loose balls. Territory Storm winners in the first quarter with the score: 14-9

Second quarter saw Territory Storm come out and stamp their authority on the match in front of a huge home crowd. Tasmania struggled in defence with the ball finding Territory Strom shooters in good position to finish strong. Second quarter score: 25-17

A host of changes for Tasmania in the third quarter didn’t seem to help. Strong work out front from goal attack Natasha Wiley was undone under the post. Goal Attack Erin McCarthy was outstanding taking drives and cuts to free up shooter Jodie Sefton, McCarthy worked the circle well and provided valuable support to the front line in brining the ball down. Territory Storm on top: 41-24.

Tasmania came back fighting in the last quarter after a number of changes from coach Aaron Pidgeon. The changes paid dividends with Tasmania winning the last quarter but it wasn’t enough Territory Storm winners comfortably: 52-38.
